Emily Mc Veigh
Emily McVeigh is founder of and owner of Equine Learning Experiences Australia. She has a lifetime of horse knowledge and experience and grew up on a cattle stud in Western Victoria whereupon she learned to ride whilst mustering cattle on the family property. Upon leaving school she spent many years as a trackwork rider in a various racing stables in both NSW and Victoria, in time acquiring her probationary trainers license. Over the years Emily’s work with her horses has evolved and today she prefers to incorporate predominantly liberty training with her horses and has been hugely influenced by Carolyn Resnick’s , and Michelle Dennis’ method of liberty training.
Cindy
Cindy Jacobs is a co facilitator at ELEA. She is founder and Programs Director of Free Rein Australia. Cindy previously founded and managed a successful change management business with over 40 staff members serving large corporations in Australia and overseas for over 15 years. Since 2001, she has also worked as an executive coach focusing on personal, professional, and leadership development, and is an Associate with the Institute of Executive Coaching Australia. Cindy has been a certified EAGALA practitioner since 2004 and completed much of her EAGALA training in the USA. Her work is inspired by her own experience with her herd of 15 horses and her discovery of what they offer to human growth and development. She currently provides coaching and mentoring to others who are entering, or are in the field of equine facilitated learning. Cindy also facilitates meditation programs at various prisons across the state on a volunteer basis.
Sally Slew
Sally Slew is queen bee of the ELEA herd. Emily brought her over ten years ago when she was heavily pregnant in foal. She is a great teacher and co facilitator. Sally has taught me a lot over the years and I feel very privileged to have such a wise being on the ELEA team.
Mia
is the mother to Vinny and has a strong presence. Within a few months of arriving in 2012 she had already established herself as the leader. She is an amazing teacher who embodies what it is to be authentic.
Vinie
Born on my husband ‘Pauls’ birthday ( who consequently saw me for all of one hour on his 2012 birthday) was special for many reasons. He was the first colt born into the herd and he was born to Mia the herd leader, so already he has a presence and respect from the rest of the herd even at 6 months of age. We named him Vinny after Pauls middle name and his grandfather who was a well respected horseman. Vinny is cool calm and collected and jumps on the float to attend a workshop at whatever opportunity he is allowed to.
Razzle Dazzle
Last but not least……..’Razzle Dazzle’. Rescued from a shipment due for ‘Dubai’ Razzle had a harsh life before she arrived in the ELEA herd. She is highly sensitive to roped or whips (which may say a bit about her past) however her wisdom and willingness to connect on a heart level with participants is beautiful and humbling to watch. One of the original herd members, she is our little superstar.
Summer
Summer is 2 year old Australian Stock horse x Quarab , she was destined to be part of ELEA and actually started communicating to me via my dreams before I had even laid eyes on her. Everything she told me about herself in her dreams was exactley true and we feel very lucky to have such a beautiful and intuitive little healer in our herd. "Summer" will be enrolling in the Michelle Dennis liberty training online course and we will be keeping you posted on her progress as a liberty trained horse / equine assisted learning horse over the next 6 months.
January Jones
she is now three years old and has learnt over the last five months to not only accommodate humans in healing sessions however to also accommodate one in particular on her back. She is all grown up now and has gone from a 3 month old foal when I first laid eyes on her to a big grown up young lady who is happy to let m ride her in between workshops. January is part American Bashkir Curly (Allergy free horse) and part Australian Stock horse. If she gets left behind in workshops I actually fear she will injure herself as she runs up and down the fence all day calling out. As a consequence 'January Jones' is involved in 99% of our workshops. We think that this is her calling , she was born to support us humans in the most amazing way possible as a healing horse.
Miss Lola
is a Clydesdale X thoroughbred filly. She is a gentle giant. Lola facilitates on a minimal level at the moment as she is only 1 year old (despite being almost 16hh) and still growing both physically and emotionally. Her owner (Paul McVeigh) has aspirations to do a charity ride one day with Lola so she is set to literally make a positive difference on many levels.
Ruby
– donated to ELEA in 2012 from ‘Howling Wolf Ranch’ is a delight to have in the herd. Little Miss curious and positive she manages to create friendships with everyone she meets (2 and 4 legged). Ruby is a master in escaping if she is tied up or in a yard. However with little Ruby’s sunny and positive disposition in life we can only love her with all our hearts and she reciprocates.
